A guest instructor for the prep class this past week that we should start our study abroad journals now and record the process of getting ready. I'm kind of fussy about my actual journals, so I figured I would start my blog and work out the kinks before I'm actually in Paris. As cheesy as it may be, I found a Victor Hugo quote about Paris to use for the title. It means "To breathe in Paris, this preserves the soul", more or less.
Anyone who will actually read this knows what I'm doing, but I'll say it anyway because I'm pretty excited about it: I'm spending next semester in PARIS on a study abroad with BYU. I'll be living with a host family in the city or the suburbs and going to class at the LDS Institute building, the Louvre, and other fabulous French places. There are about twenty students going I think, along with our director and his family. And by the way, I have heard about that episode of the Simpsons where the kids laugh en français, and I've probably heard whatever joke you might tell about how the French don't win wars, and no I don't think the chef from the Little Mermaid is a terribly accurate portrayal of the French people.
Am I excited? Oui oui.
